More than 30,000 runners were supposed to participate in the 2020 Boston Marathon 
The usual sea of colorful shirts now leaves space to the grey of the streets due to the Coronavirus pandemic 
Marathon Monday is one of the most beloved days in town, but this year there weren’t any celebrations 
Runners train for months to get ready for this race. None of them were on the streets of Boston this Monday 
Half a million fans usually cheer for the runners on Boylston street, near the finish line 
This year, however, the streets were almost entirely empty and eerily quiet 
The race has been postponed to September 14, but it’s hard to predict if and how it will take place 
This is the first time that the race has been postponed in its 123 years
This week, more than 30,000 runners were supposed to compete in the 124th edition of the Boston Marathon. But due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the world’s oldest marathon was postponed to the Fall. To pay tribute to the Marathon Monday that never was (at least for now), a few shots of the 2019 Boston Marathon were selected and put side by side with the city’s mostly empty streets.
